We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to rescue injured birds of any type. All our injured or wild birds are checked by a specialist avain vet.

The sanctuary is mainly self funded by going out to schools, or fetes as well as public donations. We do school educational visits, where we spend the entire day and give children the opportunity to learn about these magnificent birds, and children will even get the chance to hold an owl. We also attend shows and fetes where we will display a wide variety of owls, hawks and falcons from around the world. The display will be manned by trained volunteers who are willing to explain about the owls and give you the opportunity to hold them as well, and don't forget it' FREE to visit.

All birds are cared for by the volunteers of the owl sanctuary including the owner, Malcolm Jones who has over 47 years of experience.

The owl sanctuary at Festival Park, was established in 1992 for the rehabilitation and care for injured, abandoned uncared for wild owls, hawks and falcons, with the main aim of caring for these animals until they can be released back into the wild. Unfortunately some of the birds cannot be released due to being bred in captivity, non native species or injured in a way that they could not be released, so they stay with us at the sanctuary

We have some of the best volunteers any organisation could ask for, some have been with us for over 10 years some just a few weeks. We would like to say a big thank you to all our volunteers throughout the years, without your hard work and dedication we could have never have managed such a successful project.

Pat and Malcolm have been together for over 30 years and has been involved in all aspects of the sanctuary. She attends the school projects, is a member off the ethical committee, controls the day to running and attends biggest part of our events.

Alison is one of our longest serving volunteers, she as been with us for over 10 years now, Alison is on our ethical committee and visits many schools educating pupils on owls, eagles and hawks

Sheila has been with us for over 5 years, she creates many of our beautiful products that we sell in our shop. Sheila is also on the ethical committee and a very keen gardener

Kim has been volunteering for 5 years and also takes care of our social media sites, she is also a great artist and many of the aviaries have been hand painted with stunning visuals to brighten up these areas.

Elizabeth has been volunteering for around 5 years now, the most amazing thing about Elizabeth is she travels from Weston Super Mare to attend the Sanctuary, over a 3 hour round trip

William has been with us for over 14 months. He is responsable for day to day cleaning of all the aviaries and equipment, he has recently been assisting Alize with various enrichment techniques

Alize has been with us for about 8 months now, she has introduced some enrichment exercises and training regimes for some of the more difficult birds, with some amazing results

Chris has been with us for 8 months now and helps out with anything that needs doing, he looks after the CCTV system, the update and design of our website and is actively seeking new volunteers
